Stephanie Powell Watts has won a number of major prizes, including the Southern Women's Writers Award for Emerging authors. Her latest work is "No One Is Coming to Save Us," is a "Great Gatsby" done Southern; featuring a contemporary black family in a declining North Carolina town. Watts was a PEN/Hemingway finalist for her collection of short stories, "We Are Only Taking What We Need."
