National Parks Writing Contest

Why do people need parks, and why do parks need people? In many ways, national parks are a metaphor for America itself--an expression of democracy. They preserve our nation’s history, culture, recreational opportunities and protect our natural heritage. Listen to essays written by local teens expressing their thoughts on the relationship between nature and humans. Florence Williams, author of "The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative," will present awards to the winning essay writers at a special ceremony.
