Selfhood & Citizenship: Imagining Otherwise

UA Assistant Professor of English Farid Matuk engages fellow poet Brandon Shimoda in a conversation on poetics, nationality, citizenship, privilege, internal and external definitions of identity and reckoning with one’s roots in order to secure a better future for our loved ones. Farid will also read several poems from his latest collection, "The Real Horse."

Farid Matuk is a faculty member in the University of Arizona's Department of English and the author of the recent poetry collection "The Real Horse." He is also the author of "This Isa Nice Neighborhood" and several chapbooks, including "My Daughter La Chola" and "Don't Call It Reginald Denny....
