Wortman has worked as a reading specialist with Tohono O’Odham students in Arizona and at the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. He also was a K-12 reading specialist in Tucson and a principal and director of School Improvement/Title I Programs. He is the author of "Administrators Supporting School Change."
