The University of Arizona BookStores W.A.L.K. (Wildcats Advocating Literacy and Knowledge) program offers free events and activities to help increase children's literacy and instill the love of reading in the Tucson community. Monthly Children's Storybook Character Hour provides storybook reading and learning activities for hundreds of children (and their families) each year.
UA BookStores will host two classic W.A.L.K. events at the 2013 Tucson Festival of Books: Tea Time with an American Girl Author and the Storybook Character Breakfast. These events attract hundreds of children and their families to the wide world of literacy programs and events available at the festival.
Free W.A.L.K. events are scheduled at the Student Union Memorial Center location on the first Saturday of each month. Two event times - in the morning at 10:30 and in the afternoon at 2:00 - give families flexibility in planning their weekends. A third W.A.L.K. event takes place on the first Thursday of each month at 10:30 am at Park Place Mall. Read more »»
