Holly Redfern is an experienced professional educator, having taught for over twenty years in both the public and private sectors of education. She holds a teaching credential in both California and Florida.
In the field of public education Holly was a classroom teacher and also served as a resource teacher. She has also worked as a consultant to several school districts.
In the private field Holly has served in the classroom and in also administration as a director of staff development and a director of curriculum, during which time she created a supplemental curriculum for early childhood education entitled Awake and Aware.
In addition to her teaching career, Holly has been a successful entrepreneur. Her love for the theater, in particular children’s theater, prompted her to found and successfully operate a children’s theater company. Holly’s theater company filled a need for creative arts for children seven to fifteen years old at a time when school budgets were paring back on resources in the areas of arts and culture.
In both teaching and theater Holly has applied her writing talent to benefit children: in the world of education by creating curriculum and resource programs; in the world of theater by writing the plays that her company performed.
Holly recently wrote her first book in a series of children’s books about "The Adventures of Remmington the Dog." The books are focused on conveying to young children and communities at large the importance of embracing positive values in life. The focus of the first book is friendship and tolerance. The second book, "Trust In Me," promotes the importance of honesty in all things. The third book in the series will address responsibility.
Holly and her husband Ron, former publisher of The Press-Enterprise, now reside in Tucson, AZ with their Wheaten Terrier, Riley. They are blessed with two children, both married, and five grandchildren, three of which live in Southern California. Holly’s daughter and remaining two grandchildren live in Tucson.
