Conrad J. Storad

Conrad J. Storad is the national award-winning author and editor of more than 50 science and nature books for young readers. He also writes a monthly science/nature column called "Conrad's Classroom" for "Story Monsters Ink," a national award-winning magazine launched in 2014. His newest picture books include "The Bat Book" and "Gator, Gator, Second Grader." In March 2017, Storad reached a career milestone during an author visit to Mariposa Elementary School in Tempe, Arizona. He has now read stories to or conducted writing workshops for more than 1 million students and teachers. Storad has visited more than 1,500 schools and libraries in 17 states. In November 2017, "The Bat Book" received a Will Rogers Gold Medallion Award for Best Western Fiction for Children/Illustrated. Storad’s "Monster in the Rocks" represented Arizona at the 2014 National Book Festival as part of the Library of Congress’ 52 Great Reads program. His "Arizona Way Out West & Witty" was named OneBookAZ for Kids in 2012 as part of Arizona’s Centennial celebration. In 2001, Storad was honored as Arizona Children's Author of the Year. He is a member of the Hall of Fame at the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Storad is also a 2017 inductee for the Walk of Fame in his hometown of Barberton, Ohio.
