John Nichols, a pioneering political blogger, writes about politics for The Nation as its national-affairs correspondent. Nichols is a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times. He is the associate editor of the Capital Times, the daily newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Chicago Tribune and dozens of other newspapers. He is a regular commentator for the BBC on American politics. He has been a guest on Meet the Press, Bill Moyers Journal and many CNN, MSNBC, FOX and PBS programs.
A co-founder of the media reform group Free Press, Nichols has keynoted two conferences of the International Federation of Journalists, testified before Congress and the FCC and lectured at Harvard, Stanford and dozens of other universities. He is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books on media, democracy and technological change,
