Andy Masich is president and chief executive officer of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh. He is also an adjunct professor of history at Carnegie Mellon University and is widely recognized for his Emmy-winning historical documentaries and his lively lectures on history and public history. He has authored and co-authored several Western History books, including “Cheyenne Dog Soldiers: A Ledgerbook History of Coups and Combat,” "Halfbreed: The Remarkable True Story of George Bent,” "The Civil War in Arizona: The Story of the California Volunteers” and his newest work, “Civil War in the Southwest Borderlands, 1861-1867,” which delves into the multicultural and transnational dimensions of the conflict in the American West and Mexico.
