Tucson Festival of Books

Safety: Use a Clear Bag

The Tucson Festival of Books is a highlight of our community, bringing together authors, readers, and families for a weekend of learning and connection. The University of Arizona Office of Public Safety, in collaboration with festival organizers and regional partners, has implemented enhanced safety measures to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Attendees will see an increased presence of security personnel throughout the festival and magnetometers will be in use.

If you are attending author events, use only an approved clear bag to carry all items you will need during author sessions, to avoid entry delays while adhering to the university's Clear Bag PolicyThe UA Campus Store has restocked their supply of approved bags for sale.

Food and water will be treated consistently with other large-scale university events. The university's clear bag guidelines do allow these items, provided they are carried on the person or stored within an approved clear bag.

In addition:

Allow a little extra time: With an increase in security, screenings may take extra time depending on crowds, so plan to arrive early to avoid missing your session.

Plan ahead: Download the university's SafeCats app.
