Sigrid Nunez

American novelist Sigrid Nunez has been on the scene for some time, but none of her previous books captured the imagination as surely as her latest. Its title is "The Friend," and on November 14th it was was received the 2018 National Book Award for fiction. It is a tale of a lonely writer who takes solace after her friend's suicide by caring for his Great Dane. Nunez also authored "Salvation City," "The Last of Her Kind," "A Feather on the Breath of God" and "For Rouenna." She also wrote "Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag." Nunez has received a Whiting Award, the Rome Prize in Literature and a Berlin Prize Fellowship.
