Sharleen D Daugherty

Carol Schmudde

In March 2014, Book I of the Double Doll series "Turning Myself Upside Down," was released. Book I is re-published and Book II, "She Faces Her Enemy" released in 2019. The Double Doll series chronicles author Sharleen Daugherty's journey from corporate executive to a specialist in Navajo weaving.

Like the double doll, Sharleen Daugherty turned her life upside down multiple times. After graduating from high school in 1959, Sharleen left Albuquerque, NM to pursue her education and career. A master’s degree in mathematics and several years of computer training with the Department of Defense ultimately led Daugherty to own Business Systems Solutions, Inc., an East Coast computer consulting business that catered to Fortune 500 companies. By 1994 Daugherty had sold her consulting business and moved back to the Southwest to start a company that promoted Navajo weavers and their art. The year 2000 brought another change when the weaving business was closed and the author began to write of her journey among the Navajo people. The latest turn came in 2005 when Daugherty was awarded her MFA in Creative Nonfiction and became a published writer. Sharleen Daugherty currently lives with her husband and two dogs in Silver City, New Mexico.
