Holly Sims

Holly Sims is an avid reader who lives and works in the rural community of Monmouth/Independence with her prince of a husband, her 10 year old bibliophile daughter and their Muppet of a dog. She adores sharing books with children and watching students grow as learners. Holly has been awarded Teacher of The Year for her work with first and second graders at Independence Elementary School. She recently transitioned from her elementary classroom of 19 years to teach future teachers at Western Oregon University. Holly currently serves on the Notable Children’s Books in the Language Arts Award Committee.

Join the committee members who select the Notable Children's Books in the Language Arts as they describe their processes in selecting award-winning books for K-8 readers. They will share some of their favorite 2016 books and provide book lists of recent award books.
