Patricia A Taylor Ms.

Join us in the art of cooking while incorporating our treasured secret flavors influenced by Chihuahua and Sonora, Mexico, and Southern Arizona and New Mexico style food.

Our journey begins with a collection of history, traditions, recipes, ingredients, spices, cooking vessels, systematic processes, and translations. We provide recommendations on quality products at markets, brick and mortar, farm stands and encourage a road trip to Hatch, New Mexico’s Annual Chile Festival usually held in September. From our history and experiences, we share our treasured, loved and secret recipes so that your family and friends will enjoy the dishes created or influenced by our mothers and grandmothers. These recipes have evolved throughout the generations.

We are three women of Mexican heritage with diverse backgrounds, professions and cooking styles. Zulema “Sue” Echerivel-Felix is a descendant of families who were settlers in Chihuahua, Mexico. Maria “Tonette” Carbajal is a descendant of families who settled in Arizona from Northern Mexico and Patricia “Güera” Taylor’s maternal family also emigrated from Northern Sonora to Arizona.

Through our employment as professional colleagues, in a Fortune 100 Company, we also shared a love of heritage, culture and food which continued into our retirements. The idea of compiling an extraordinary cookbook began when we gathered to jointly make a Northern Sonoran delicacy, Tamales de Elote or Green Corn Tamales.

Our goal is for you to become more knowledgeable about the process of cooking Chihuahua and Sonora, Mexico and Southwestern Arizona and New Mexico border influenced food. By reading our tips, selecting ingredients, preparing our recipes and cooking these flavorful dishes, we want you to initiate traditions of your own for family, friends and your enjoyment. ¡Buen Provecho!
