Marie Marquardt

Marie Marquardt is the author of young adult novels, a college professor, and an immigration advocate. She is a Scholar-in-Residence at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. In addition to "Dream Things True" and "The Radius of Us," she has co-authored two non-fiction books and written many articles on immigration.

Marquardt has been interviewed about immigration on National Public Radio, Public Radio International, Voice of America, NBC and BBC America, among many other media outlets. She is proud and honored to be the co-chair of El Refugio -- which is a Georgia non-profit that serves detained immigrants and their families. She lives in the book-lovers mecca of Decatur, Georgia with her spouse, four children, a dog and a bearded dragon.

Love Crosses Borders: Life-Changing Decisions
Relationships are a lot of work, especially when romantic feelings are involved. Three YA authors explore the borders their characters must cross as they make life decisions and explore new relationships. Adrianne Finlay's teens cross the border of humanity in a romance between a clone and a human in "Your One and Only," while Marie Marquardt's teens cross the border of trauma through love in "The Radius of Us." Sandhya Menon's teens in "When Dimple Meant Rishi" fight the border of parental expectations and traditions.
