E. J. McCully (1915-1973) was born in La Grande, Oregon, and raised in Oakland, California. He became a Regimental Personnel Officer and Captain in the 415th Infantry Regiment of the 104th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for his efforts. He later served for almost 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve in Phoenix, Arizona, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel and receiving the Army Commendation Medal. After employment at the Phoenix Veterans Administration, he rose to an executive position with a local business, living in Scottsdale with his wife and three daughters.
His daughter Anne McCully Dorre, PhD, (Editor) is a retired psychologist, who lives in northwest Arizona.
