Marilyn Carpenter PhD

Marilyn Carpenter is a specialist in literacy and literature for children and young adults with 20 years experience in staff development for school districts across the United States. She is Professor Emeritus from Eastern Washington University (EWU). There she taught literacy classes concentrating on children’s and teen literature. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Arizona. Her past experiences include: community college instructor, elementary teacher and Title I Coordinator.

2017 Award-Winning Fiction and Nonfiction
Award-winning books are a great way to find new books for K-8 readers. This session will focus on the books that won the 2017 Charlotte Huck Award for Outstanding Fiction and the Orbis Pictus Award for Nonfiction for Children. Come and learn about the books that won these awards along with recommended books.
