Russell A. True Jr.

Russell True is a second generation owner/operator of White Stallion Ranch in Tucson, Arizona. His parents, Allen and Cynthia, moved to the ranch in 1965 and Russell grew up there along with his brother Michael (also owner/operator). Russell graduated from the University of Arizona with a Business Finance degree in 1982 and went straight to work at the family ranch where he has been involved ever since.

In 1993, he co-founded the Arizona Dude Ranchers’ Association and served as its president from 1996-1999. He also served as President of the Dude Ranchers’ Association (est. 1926), the first ever president from Arizona. His upcoming book is called "Dude Ranching in Arizona."

Russell witnessed the 20 remaining dude ranches in Tucson shrink to 2 as the total number in Arizona fell to 15. Putting together this book has been a “pilgrimage” for a dude rancher dedicated to recording the history and the unique place that dude ranching has in Arizona and the West. He is determined to help preserve dude ranching’s past and support its future as he believes more and more people will benefit from the experience that only dude ranches can offer.
