Lola E. Rainey

Lola Rainey is a retired lawyer, poet and community activist in Tucson, Ariz. Rainey is a regional organizer with the National Bail Fund Network and the Community Justice Exchange where she works on issues related to public accountability and participation and works with organizers across the country on building abolitionist principles into their organizing practice. Rainey is the founder and director of the Tucson Second Chance Community Bail Fund, a revolving bail fund that is working to end pretrial detention and mass supervision in Pima County and beyond. Rainey is the author of numerous articles on the issues of racial and social justice, the author of a children’s picture book and a book of literary fiction. Her poems have appeared in several literary journals and poetry anthologies. “Darkness In The Margins,” her newest poetry collection was published in July of this year. She is a founding member of the “Arizona Cotton Pickers Poetry Tour.”
