Carol Fiore

Nicole Steinmetz

Carol Fiore, a licensed pilot and local Tucson resident, is a climate activist and holds three university degrees. She's a former wildlife rehabilitator, bird zoo keeper, humane educator and university instructor. She donates a majority of book proceeds from her teen fiction trilogy to environmental nonprofits. The first book, "Countdown, Book One - The Skye Van Bloem Trilogy," was named to the 2019 Green Earth Book Awards Long List, which is bestowed annually to children's and young adult literature that best convey the message of environmental stewardship. The second book in the trilogy, a climate dystopia, was published in late February 2020. Fiore also sponsors a scholarship to send kids to Space Camp in her husband's memory; read about him in "Flight through Fire."
