Shamus Khan

Professor Shamus Khan is chair of the sociology department at Columbia University. He is a member of the core faculty at Columbia’s Population Research Center at the Mailman School of Public Health and a member of the executive committee of the Institute for Women, Gender and Sexuality. He primarily works in the areas of cultural sociology and stratification, with a strong focus on elites. Most recently he has been working on the Sexual Health Initiative to Foster Transformation (SHIFT), which seeks to understand sexual health and sexual violence at the Columbia and Barnard communities and beyond. He is the co-author of "Sexual Citizens: A Landmark Study of Sex, Power, and Assault on Campus."
