Dr. Nicole Yunger Halpern is a theoretical physicist at the Joint Institute for Quantum Information and Computer Science in Maryland. She attended Dartmouth College for a combined physics, math, history and philosophy degree. Yunger Halpern then earned a master's degree at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada and a Ph.D. at Caltech in Pasadena. She developed a research program by smashing together quantum physics, information theory, and thermodynamics, and followed it up with an ITAMP Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard.
Her first book is"Quantum Steampunk: The Physics of Yesterday's Tomorrow."
