Arnée Flores (she/her/hers)


Arnée Flores is the author of the critically acclaimed middle grade fantasy "The Firebird Song" and its forthcoming sequel, "The Spirit Queen." She has presented on panels with ALA, Booklist, SLJ and Disney. She is passionate about creating magical, uplifting stories for children during times of adversity. Flores lives in the Seattle area with her husband, daughter and their small white dog, the Professor.

Game Workshop on a Hero's Journey: Ages 8 and up
This workshop guides children through the basics of the Hero's Journey storytelling through playing a board game. Kids will discover the shape of the Hero's Journey and leave with the beginnings of their own stories, armed with a set of tools they can use again and again. Fantasy author Arnée Flores is the author of "Spirit Queen" and "Firebird Song."

Middle Grade Carousel: Challenging the Odds
Meet a bunch of authors in 60 minutes and find out how their characters are challenging the odds in their lives and worlds. Each author will be seated at a table to talk with a small group about their newest book. Every eight minutes the authors will rotate to a new table in our version of author speed-dating.

Melissa de la Cruz creates the fairytale-inspired world of Never After, while Arnee Flores introduces a princess who struggles to find her magical ability and Melissa Marr features a world where kids band with dragons and gargoyles to save their world.
