Author Judy Howard's mailing address is Sun City, Calif., but you will rarely find her there. Instead, check out the Auto Club Motor Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and lift the helmet visor worn by one of the Mario Andretti racecar drivers. You might find the top-ranking Amazon author strapped in and ready to race.
Or cruise down Route 66 and keep your eyes open for her Winnebago motorhome she calls "The Big Story," followed closely by her Smart Car, "The Short Story."
Or you might have seen her on the unpopulated beaches of Oregon, or visiting the raging Niagara Falls, or rafting down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.
Of one thing, you can be sure: thrill seeker, adrenaline junkie, and yes, writer and motivational speaker, Judy Howard along with her cat, Sportster, do not stay in one place for long. Living up to a quote by Henry Thoreau, Howard questions, "How vain is it to sit down and write when you have not stood up to live?"
Howard's books expand over many genres-- memoir, thriller-romance, reality fiction, and even the cat, Sportster has pounced into the writing game with a book for young adults. But all of Howard's books carry the same theme-- overcoming life's difficulties.
With her cat, Sportster, the author travels across the country as a motivational speaker as well as presenting writing seminars and workshops. "She swoops into a room," one fan describes. Many others just use "inspiring" to describe her. When asked,"Why do you write?" Howard answers, "I believe authors can change the world ... and that is what life is all about."
Howard's most recent book is "The Grieving Gift."
