Tucson Festival of Books

Callie C. Miller

Callie C. Miller writes for animated television shows, video game companies and (most importantly) herself. When she’s not writing, Callie is most likely reading comics or playing video games or dreaming about hot chocolate (as hot chocolate is very important nourishment for writers). Her animation credits include LEGO Monkie Kid, Nickelodeon’s Monster High and Apple TV+’s "Stillwater." She received her Master of Fine Arts in writing for children and young adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. "The Hunt for the Hollower" is Callie’s debut.

Portals as Passageways to Life-Changing Adventures
A portal serves as a gateway, inviting characters to travel through time/space into a new fantasy world. Adventures in that world challenge characters to change their lives. The portals in these books lead to the Cree world of Misewa, Japanese mythical creatures, and an Arthurian adventure.
