The lives of three teens spiral out of control in the aftermath of a bombing at a concert.
Perfect for fans of Marieke Nijkamp.
Everything can shatter in an instant.
A bomb just went off. At least that’s what Olive thinks happened. Someone yelled Run, so she did. Now she was on the floor of the lobby with no idea how long she’d been unconscious and bleeding. Her whole left arm looked alien to her. She was supposed to meet her boyfriend, Felix, at the concession stand where bodies now lay. Where is he? Through the smoke, ash, and agonized cries of people calling for help, Olive adds her own, screaming Felix’s name.
Felix has loved Olive since the first day they met as toddlers. He’d do anything for her, even seeing one of Olive’s favorite singers, Sestina, live in concert despite only liking one of her songs. He’s been waiting for Olive to love him the way he loved her his whole life. Their first kiss just before the concert had meant everything to him. He knows he’s hurt badly, but he he’ll risk everything to make it back to her.
Jeremy was supposed to go to the concert with Alma, but she broke up with him on the way there. He doesn’t know why he still decided to go. He’s been having a miserable time. Finally, he gets up to leave, but pauses in the lobby to listen to Sestina’s last soulful lyrics, knowing if Alma ever forgave him, she’d want to hear about the concert’s final moments. Instead, the world goes black. Jeremy wakes to chaos, with a bruised stomach, a ringing in his ears and a skinny kid his age he’s compelled to help even if it means putting his own life on the line.
Strangers at the beginning of the night, just three of thousands of fans who call themselves Tina’s, become bonded and brave in ways they could have never imagined.
Inspired by the devastating bombing at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, Someone Saved My Life Tonight is a poignant, breathtaking mirror to the toll of senseless violence, big and small. More/less
