In 2018 – 2019, the University of Arizona developed a new Strategic Plan for responding to the most pressing issues facing our world. Innovations in Healthy Aging (IHA) was born of that plan, with a charter to explore, discover and evaluate new models for healthy aging and meeting the needs of the aging population.
IHA provides a network for scholars, an educational resource for traditional and non-traditional students, a resource for allies and potential partners to explore opportunities with the University of Arizona, and a hub for connecting older adults in Southern and Central Arizona. Our 4 main objectives:
Integrate older adults with the UArizona, whether living independently or in senior living communities.
Partner with developers to discover and implement models of healthy aging by including older adults and other stakeholders in creation of the models.
Research, discovery, and innovation in aging.
Provide educational opportunities in geroscience to create a workforce for care of older adults.
