Contest Entry Form

Sixth Annual Young Artists Competition

We Are Looking For:

  • Original youth artwork depicting subjects that celebrate Arizona‚Äôs history or diverse cultures.
  • Accepted art media types include crayon, colored pencil, pastels, paint, pencil, charcoal or marker.
  • Maximum size of artwork: 11"x14" original piece.
  • Photography, digital art, sculpture, and performance art are excluded.
  • Open to youth preK through 12th grade residing in Southern Arizona.

Contest Rules:

  • Entry must be accompanied by entry form - either electronically submitted or hard-copy.
  • Please, no name on the front of artwork (judges prefer no identifying information on the work).
  • One entry per youth.
  • Only single artist submissions.
  • Maximum size 11" x 14".
  • Media: crayons, pencil, pastels, paint, colored pencils, charcoal or markers.
  • For residents of Southern Arizona.
  • Photography, digital art and sculpture are excluded.
  • Original artwork depicting Arizona's history and/or diverse culture, landscapes, architecture, flora and/or fauna.
  • Artwork must be postmarked or hand-delivered by 5pm on Friday, December 22nd, 2017.

Please have a parent/guardian read this: By entering your child's work in this competition, you agree to the illustration competition rules and regulations. You also agree that the Tucson Festival of Books may use your child's name and submission in any activities related to the Festival. If the Tucson Festival of Books is unable to contact you or to receive signed acknowledgement, a different entry will be selected. The decisions of the judges are final. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected or illegible submissions.

Entries will be returned to the artists. Finalists in each of four age categories will be recognized on March 10, 2018, at the Tucson Festival of Books. During the award ceremony, finalists will receive a certificate, a poster showing winning entries and $100 in gift cards. This event is sponsored by Friends of Western Art in partnership with the Tucson Festival of Books; it is not a school district-sponsored event.

An optional JPEG or PNG photo of the illustration. There is a 3MB file size limit. Uploading a photo helps us to better track submissions. The actual illustration must be submitted by mail or in person.
