Each year at the Tucson Festival of Books, PCPL staff--along with librarians and teachers from local high schools--lead small groups of teens in recording exclusive interviews with authors of current Young Adult fiction. The Library provides the teens with reading copies of the titles authors are promoting at the festival and, after reading and discussing their books, the teens craft the questions they pose to authors entirely on their own and conduct each interview with minimal guidance. These conversations highlight teen voices as they explore life and writing with authors and are truly magical to experience. They also make for fascinating listening!
This year we had nine groups of teens drawn from six high schools and two libraries, as well as a group from the Youth Health Action Team. Here’s a playlist featuring all nine interviews:
