
Miranda S. Spivack is a veteran reporter and editor who specializes in stories about government accountability and secrecy. She spent 20 years with the Washington Post, and her work has appeared in The New York Times, Reveal fro the Center for Investigative Reporting, USA Today and the McClatchy newspapers.
A former Fulbright Scholar and now a fellow at Syracuse University's Institute for Democracy, Journalism and Citizenship, Spivack comes to the festival with a book entitled "Backroom Deals in Our Backyards," a look at ways ordinary people can overcome secrecy in local and state governments and make positive changes in their communities.
