Cyndi Giorgis


Cyndi Giorgis is an avid reader and believes in the power of reading aloud. She is a former first grade teacher and school librarian. Currently she is a professor of children’s and young adult literature at Arizona State University. Cyndi has served on the Caldecott and Newbery Medal committees as well as the Geisel Award Committee. She is currently revising and updating Jim Trelease's Read-Aloud Handbook that will be published fall 2019.

Illustrators face the challenge of moving between inspiration, imagination and hard work to create picture books that engage readers. Three award-winning illustrators will talk about the ways in which they explore this challenge in their creative processes.
