Maria V. Acevedo is an assistant professor in the early childhood program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is interested in how young children develop understandings about local and global cultural communities through literature and play.

Scheduled events:
Books that Move and Pop
Interactive books encourage young children to actively engage in a book-reading experience with the adults in their lives. These books use strategies, such as holes, pop-ups, flaps and tunes to invite talk and fun around a book, while also encouraging the development of early literacy.
