Langellier describes how, for more than six decades after their arrival in 1881, Buffalo Soldiers served with honor in the Copper State, from campaigns against Native Americans to patrolling the border during the turbulent years of the Mexican Revolution.
During WWII, they trained for combat overseas. All the while, they faced the ever-present threats of racism. Dozens of photos bring to life their unheralded contributions. More/less
