Mary Cay Wesolowski's writing experiences began, in earnest, after college when she married railroad enthusiast, Wayne. She edited his more than 160 articles for various model railroad magazines, co-authored three books and wrote the scripts for two Kalmbach videos while actually being a blogger before her time via a weekly column for the Marengo, IL Beacon News. Under the guise of a "cooking column" she combined recipes with stories, family news, community "gossip" and a tad of philosophy and advice.
What inspired the Garner Giraffe stories? Long-time friend, Patricia Kay, is a true "giraffe lady." Writing stories about a giraffe for her St. Nicholas Day gift started it all. Garner just sort of grew and "bloomed." "Garner Giraffe Celebrates Christmas" is the first in a series. Next up: "Garner Giraffe's Birthday."
With a 4 1/2 year old granddaughter and an expected grandson, Mary Cay will, undoubtedly, have further inspiration and motivation for storytelling.
