Dalziel Dominguez

Friends of the Festival

Dalziel Dominguez is from Yuma, AZ and has worked as a tutor in public and private settings with kids of all ages in mathematics. He is a collaborator at the IDEA School in Tucson. Dalziel is also interested in sustainable farming practices and has completed urban renewal programs. He completed the Sonoran Herbalist Apprenticeship program which centered on learning how to work with local plants as medicine and food. Dalziel loves movement and martial arts and expressing himself through dance and song. He enjoys spending time singing, playing guitar and, if the occassion is ripe, dance surely follows. He became interested in robots as a method by which to create a math rich environment as well as providing a manipulative means to apply the knowledge students are learning.

Robots are Taking Over the World
The future of robots is here, and kids are fully engaged. This panel will talk about real, potential and fictional uses of robots and the ways in which kids can be involved in robotics. Chris Gall's "NanoBots" features a young inventor of miniature robots, while Jennifer Swansons' "Everything Robots" introduces the field of robotics. Dalziel will share how kids are building their own robots.
