Henry W. Brands is a New York Times best-selling historian and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist. He teaches at the University of Texas at Austin, where he holds a senior chair in the history department.
He has authored more than 30 books about topics in American history, like the presidency and the western frontier. He has also written articles for major newspapers, including the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. He appears on national radio and television programs. His writings have been translated into multiple languages including German, Russian and Chinese.
Brands' latest work is "The Zealot and the Emancipator," which narrates the epic struggle over slavery as embodied by John Brown and Abraham Lincoln.
