Co-authors Michael J. McGuire and Marie S. Pearthree have worked in the water industry for several decades. McGuire's involvement with Tucson Water began in 1993 in the midst of the Central Arizona Project (CAP) red-water debacle, after which he led the consulting team that worked closely with Tucson Water to turn the situation around. In her positions as project manager and deputy director at Tucson Water from 1997-2008, Pearthree was responsible for coordinating the successful re-introduction of CAP water to Tucson in 2001. She subsequently served as deputy general manager for the Central Arizona Project.
