Misty Thompson

Misty Proffitt-Thompson was born in Phoenix and has spent the majority of her life there. She worked for the federal government and retired in April 2015. During the early years of her career working for the government, tragedy struck her family when her younger sister, Stephanie, disappeared. After 55 days of waiting and wondering, Stephanie's remains were found in the southeastern part of the state.

This tragedy became one of the turning points in Proffitt-Thompson's life. Her mom was so overwhelmed with grief and she desperately wanted Stephanie's story to be told so she vowed to write the story. As Proffitt-Thompson's career came to an end, she began preparing herself to write Stephanie's story and as a result, completed the book, "By Your Side: A Journey of Two Sisters through Love and Sacrifice" outlining Stephanie's tragedy that turned into Proffitt-Thompson's spiritual awakening. Her other works include "From Grief to Acceptance: An Active Process for Healing While Honoring Our Loved."

Proffitt-Thompson continues to write on spiritual subjects and owns a business helping her clients on their journey.
