Rick L. Scifres

R.L. Scifres was born in West Texas, raised in Roswell, N.M. and joined the Navy two weeks after graduating high school. He spent twenty years in the Naval Security Group and spent about four years total in the Philippines between 1974 and 1981.

Upon retiring from the Navy, he completed a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Troy State University and worked as a counselor and educator at various institutions before retiring from Eastern New Mexico University, Roswell as an instructor of psychology and sociology in 2017.

"Interrupted Weekend: A Subic Story" is Scifres' first novel. 

Today he lives in Green Valley, Ariz. with his lovely young bride, Joanie.
