Laura E. Gómez is a professor of law, sociology and Chicana/Chicano studies at UCLA. She writes about race in America and the Mexican-American identity. 

She is the author of "Inventing Latinos," as well as "Manifest Destinies," "Mapping Race" and "Misconceiving Mothers."
