Bill Carter is the screenwriter and an executive producer of the documentary “Kiss the Future,” which is produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Sarah Anthony. It has been nominated for a Writer's Guild Award for best docuementary screenplay for 2024. The documentary is based on Carter’s book "Fools Rush In". He is the award-winning documentary filmmaker of Miss Sarajevo, which is produced by Bono and Bill Carter, which has won numerous awards and accolades. He has made 8 short documentary films for MIT global programs including a short film on how Botswana is using diamonds to create a blueprint on how Sub-Saharan Africa economies can be more self-sustaining. He is the author of three books, including "Fools Rush In", "Red Summer," and "Boom, Bust, Boom," all critically acclaimed journalistic memoirs.
Carter is also professor of practice for film production at Northern Arizona University.
In 2009 he was recognized with honorary citizenship to the City of Sarajevo.
Awards: My film Miss Sarajevo won the International Monitor Award and the Golden Hugo award and has been played in dozens of countries around the world. Currently Kiss the Future, which is based on my book Fool's Rush In is streaming on Paramount Plus. I am the screenwriter and an executive producer as well.
