Rajani LaRocca (she/her/hers)


Rajani LaRocca was born in India, raised in Kentucky and now lives in Massachusetts where she practices medicine and writes award-winning books for young readers, including the Newbery Honor-winning novel in verse, "Red, White, and Whole." Her new book is "Sona and the Golden Beasts." She's always been an omnivorous reader, and now she is an omnivorous writer of novels and picture books, fiction and nonfiction, in prose and poetry. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, she lives outside Boston with her family.

These high-stakes adventures feature characters who face corruption and chaos as they actively resist those in power despite the danger to create a more hopeful world. Sayantani DasGupta, Donna Barba Higuera, and Rajani LaRocca immerse us in an oppressive future world, an environmental mystery, and a world where music and magic are outlawed.

Meet a bunch of authors in 60 minutes as they share their new books filled with action and adventure. Each author will be seated at a table to talk with a small group about their newest book. Every eight minutes the authors will rotate to a new table in our version of author speed-dating.
