In her first memoir, "Milepost 75," Sandra tells the story of challenging personal goals she set for her 75th birthday with reflections spanning twenty-eight years beginning with her first Grand Canyon hike. In her debut memoir she looks back with wisdom and perspective on the victories, the seeming failures, and the many lessons learned.
She considers herself a late starter at almost everything and describes how she did not get started in her active lifestyle until her mid-40’s. "Milepost 75" was published in 2024 just after she turned 80. A very late start! When her first book was published, her readers asked several questions about her active life adventures, but mostly they wanted to know how she managed to write a book and get it published at the ripe old age of 80.
These questions created the impetus for "Aging Adventurously at 80 - How I Wrote a Book and Got It Published."
Sandra started this second book by answering readers’ questions about her late start to writing and publishing, but then she started digging deeper, telling stories about all that had occurred in her life while she was writing "Milepost 75." She described how she wrote during COVID 19 when she and Arnie had to isolate to protect Arnie with his severely compromised health. She told heartwarming stories about how they managed to stay healthy and even thrive. Then she shared even more facets of her life, her grief, her challenges and the joy of family support especially from her daughter and son.
The more she wrote, the more she realized her second memoir was much about more than answering readers’ questions, she was discovering and sharing answers to her own life questions as well.
"Aging Adventurously at 80 - How I Wrote a Book and Got It Published" tells the story of how Sandra wrote her debut memoir, navigated her life during the writing of that first memoir, and also how she learned even more essential life lessons as she continued to move forward, step by step.
