Pamela Prickett

Pamela Prickett is an associate professor of sociology at Pomona College. Prior to Pomona, she taught at the University of Amsterdam for seven years. She comes to Tucson with "The Unclaimed," a deeply researched and warmly empathetic look into why so many people are left unclaimed when they die. It is her second book set in Los Angeles, the other entitled "Believing in South Central." Prickett holds a Ph.D. in urban sociology from UCLA.

Scheduled events:
The Forgotten Americans
More than 150,000 Americans a year go unclaimed when they die. Who are they? How did they become so disconnected? Sociologist and author Pamela Prickett spent eight years asking those very questions, and will share some of the answers with us today.
