April Halprin Wayland

April Halprin Wayland has won notable awards for her picture books and verse novels and was named an Outstanding Instructor of the Year. Her website's tagline is 1/2 author, 1/2 poet, 1/2 not so good at fractions. She lives in California.

The 2025 list of Notable Books in Poetry and Novels in Verse will be presented by the NCTE Excellence in Poetry committee. The committee will discuss ways poetry can invite children to share their perspectives and experiences through language, imagery and format.
