Laurie Gwen Shapiro


Laurie Gwen Shapiro is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, New York, Slate and Aeon. She comes to the festival with "The Aviator and the Showman," which explores the relationship between Amelia Earhart and George Putnam before she and her plane disappeared. Shapiro now lives in New York City and is an adjunct professor in the master's program at NYU's Journalism Institute.
