Michael Cohen grew up in Tucson and attended the University of Arizona, but his working life, teaching college English, was in New Orleans and in western Kentucky. He began publishing personal essays after retiring from teaching. Some of these are collected in "A Place to Read" (IP Press, 2014) and "And Other Essays" (Glass House Books, 2020). "The Golden Era of Sherlock Holmes and His Contemporaries: A Mystery Guide and Finding List" (Genius Books, 2024) is his second book on the subject of mystery fiction; the first was "Murder Most Fair: The Appeal of Mystery Fiction" (Associated University Presses, 2000). He lives in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Tucson Mountains.
