Husi Cázares


Husi Cazares, an enrolled member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, has devoted his life to teaching and preserving his people’s culture, history, and language. He has taught Tohono O’odham culture, as well as Native American history, at several colleges and universities. Currently working as a trilingual speech-language pathologist, he remains deeply involved in language preservation and literacy initiatives. He writes bilingual Tohono O’odham books for children and is working on a Tohono O’odham/English dictionary.

Tohono O'odham Culture and Life
The author, illustrator, and publisher of two picture books about everyday life for Tohono O'odham children share their books and the story behind their efforts to publish these books as a way to preserve O'odham culture, history and language. In addition, they share future projects.
