Gene Twaronite is the author of five poetry collections. His poems have appeared in various literary journals and anthologies. His first poetry book, "Trash Picker on Mars," was the winner of the 2017 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award. A former Writer-in-Residence for Pima County Public Library, he currently leads a poetry workshop for the University of Arizona OLLI program.
Gene is also an accomplished essayist and fiction writer. In a span of over fifty years, he has written and published twelve books, including two essay collections, two juvenile novels, and a collection of his children’s stories, some of which first appeared in Highlights for Children and other magazines. His first picture book, "How to Eat Breakfast," was recently published by Lyric Power Publishing.
A native New Englander, Gene now lives with his wife Jo in downtown Tucson.
