Leaving Home: Short Stories

Daniel Chacon, Kali Fajardo-Anstine and Sergio Troncoso have come to the festival with stories that explore the complex lives of marginalized people ... and the toll they have paid in trying to assimilate into new cultures.

Daniel Chacón

Daniel Chacón is a professor of creative writing at the University of Texas, El Paso. He earned a master's of fine arts in creative writing from the University of Oregon. He is the author of several books, including "Kafka in a Skirt," "The Cholo Tree" and "Hotel Juárez: Stories, Rooms and Loops," which won the 2014 PEN Oakland Award for Literary Excellence....


Kali Fajardo-Anstine

Kali Fajardo-Anstine is the author of Sabrina & Corina, a 2019 Finalist for the National Book Award in Fiction and The Story Prize. Fajardo-Anstine is the 2019 recipient of the Denver Mayor’s Award for Global Impact in the Arts....

Sergio Troncoso

Sergio Troncoso is most recently the author of "A Peculiar Kind of Immigrant’s Son." Troncoso is also the author of "The Last Tortilla and Other Stories," "Crossing Borders: Personal Essays" and the novels, "The Nature of Truth" and "From This Wicked Patch of Dust....
